THE HISTORY OF WHATEVER/ FOX HISTORY
The Theme Song for the TV Series " The History of Whatever, on Fox History Channel, was one of the most challenging songwriting briefs faced by Sawan - her lyrics had to cover cricket commentary, chai, indian toilets, jewellery, bollywood characters and All India Radio!!!
EXCERPT FROM MISTY LANES/ PASSION
Sawan wrote lyrics, composed, produced and sang on this song along with Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan, who sing and play sarod on this track. This album was created to set the mood for a glitzy fashion event, an unveiling of a new line of apparel by a prominent indian designer.
WELCOME TO THE CITY
Sawan typed this song out on her phone in a film mixing studio, while waiting for a foley engineer to finish so she could begin her work. The lyrics captured all that intimidated her about her recent move to Mumbai. It was during the process of shooting and editing the video for this song that she finally learnt to look at her new city with a sense of wonder.
AVE MARIA / CACCINI
Sawan sings the Caccini Ave Maria across two octaves, a somewhat unorthodox treatment of the song.
AMAR SHYAMA MAYER
A bengali "shyama sangeet" composed in praise of the Hindu Goddess Kali by the Muslim poet, musician and philospher Qazi Nazrul Islam, mixed with excerpts from a 16th century biblical psalm.
